William Robert Smith, 84, 5980 S. 2700 W., died Saturday in the Dee Hospital.
Mr. Smith was born Nov. 25, 1877, in Kent, England, a son of Robert and Sarah Ann McKee Smith. He came to the United States as an LDS convert June 18, 1910, settling in Preston, Idaho.
He had been an active member of the LDS Church in Preston and in Ojai, Calif., serving in the branch presidency and as a counselor. He was a high priest in the Roy First Ward.
He was married to Martha Annie Turpin on Aug. 6, 1899, in England. They later received endowments in the Logan Temple. She died on Jan. 20, 1915. He was married to Sarah Davis Campbell on March 29, 1916, in the Logan Temple. They lived in Ojai, Calif., 1 1/2 years, coming to Roy six years ago.
Surviving are his widow of Roy, the following sons and daughters: William H. Smith, Vancouver, B.C.; Ed R. Smith, Hubert D. Smith, both of Provo; Joseph T. Smith, Canoga Park, Calif., Willis D. Smith, Santa Monica, Calif.; Ariel D. Smith, Roy; Mrs. Earl (Lillian) Hagler, Danville, Calif.; Mrs. Venna S. Schommer, Oxnard, Calif.; Mrs. R. W. (Alice) Miller, LaPuente, Calif.; 25 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, one brother, James Herbert Smith, Ogden.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel by Bishop Lewis R. Child of the Roy First Ward. Friends may call at the mortuary Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at Preston, Idaho, Cemetery.
